Red Dead Redemption?

Red Dead Redemption, published in May 2010, is a game about Redemption, Death and the colour Red. But Red Dead Redemption 2 is a little more complicated. It may share the same title, and it certainly shares the same feel, but the story follows a drastically different story as we follow the tale of Arthur Morgan and his affiliation with the ‘Van Der Linde Gang’.

In the previous game we met 4 members of the gang. Our faithful protagonist, whom is the one seeking redemption, John Marston. As well as our main antagonists, Javier Escuella, Bill Williamson, and of course the man himself, Dutch Van Der Linde.

In the previous story we followed John Marston’s story of redemption, assisting federal agents in the capture or execution of the surviving 3 members of the ‘Van Der Linde Gang’. In this prequel however, we take part as a member of the notorious gang itself. Set a decade before the events of the previous game, we learn about the history of the gang, and the downfall of Dutch himself.

Red Dead Deterioration might have been  more suitable name for the story we follow, as we watch Dutch Van Der Linde go from lovable friend of our main character, to the antagonist we saw in the original game.

This story has been one of the best I’ve seen in recent years, and with the long gaming time, this is a story worth the money. Yes there are certainly downfalls to the game. As with most Rockstar games, we often have graphical glitches during cutscenes, but this is a small price to pay for the brilliance of the graphics and look of the game overall.

All in all, a brilliant game that I would recommend to anyone.
